Privacy Policy

StudyStride is a user-controlled Chrome extension that turns an authorized browser session and spoken commentary into reviewable transcripts, summaries, questions, audio, images, and documents.

Information processed

StudyStride processes only information needed for a user-started session:

StudyStride does not collect passwords, cookies, hidden page content, or general browsing history. Captured information is not used for advertising, data brokerage, or training a StudyStride model.

How information is used and shared

After the user accepts the session disclosure, temporary audio is sent through the StudyStride service to Google Gemini in bounded, overlapping files for complete transcription. Audio retention is off by default. If the user does not select Keep audio, the browser deletes the temporary recording after transcription. If selected, retained audio can be reviewed, exported as WAV, and optionally backed up to Google Drive.

Browser screenshots are compared locally to detect meaningful visual changes. Key-screenshot retention is on by default and can be turned off before capture. Retained images stay in Chrome for user review; selected frames can be assembled into a Capture Report PDF with matched verbatim transcript and backed up to the user’s Google Drive. Screenshot images are sent for Gemini visual analysis only when the user explicitly selects an optional AI feature. When optional AI is off, only page title and URL metadata are stored for capture timing and transcription spelling hints. Transcripts, optional questions, and optional summaries remain with the session.

Google authorization is used to authenticate the user and access only files the user creates or selects. Access tokens are not stored. Information is shared only with Google services required for these features.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

StudyStride uses and transfers personal or sensitive information only to provide its disclosed browser-capture, AI-analysis, Google Drive, and Gemini Notebook workflow. It does not sell user data, use it for personalized advertising or credit decisions, or permit human review except with specific user consent for support, for security, when required by law, or after aggregation and anonymization for internal operations.

User control and deletion

Capture begins only after the user reviews the retention choices, accepts the in-product notice, and starts the session. The user can stop capture or cancel the workflow. Cancelling removes StudyStride session data, browser-local audio, retained images, and the local PDF. Google files already created remain under the user’s control and are not automatically deleted.

Security and recording responsibility

StudyStride uses Chrome Manifest V3, HTTPS in production, short-lived credentials, verified Google identity, and per-owner resource isolation. No transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

The user or organization is responsible for any notice, consent, workplace, classroom, and recording requirements that apply.
